Considered the masala blend of Morocco. Villa Jerada uses 16 spices and was made according to their mother’s family recipe. Whole spices are imported directly from Morocco and are processed in cold mill small batches to order. This cold mill approach doesn’t create any heat friction, allowing the spices to preserve their essential oils, flavor and aroma.
Ras el hanout works great with any braised dish either with protein such as a lamb neck or shank or a simple medley of root vegetables. Our favorite preparation is with yogurt and honey used as a dip for crudités. We also add it to coffee in the cold season to make a Moroccan spiced coffee. Ras el hanout is Morocco’s spice jewel.
